Philosophy

Rachelle’s designs are as diverse as her clients. Instead of approaching a client with a preconceived design concept she believes that every site, every space has its own capacity to fulfill the clients wishes. Engaging with the clients in a vital process of site analysis, the "spirit of place" is discovered. “Every site is so unique and it’s my job to understand the nature of the space, to see its potential to meet the clients needs”. Working in the Santa Barbara area, site conditions have ranged from large rural properties, to a blank canvas of new subdivision yards, each with their own microclimate and character.  With every detail, grand and small, her commitment remains devoted to her clients intentions and to the sites greater connection to the surrounding landscape.
